A recording from Jeff Matlow's live video
The employee with relatively minor smoke damage to her home, but who is unable to return to work should NOT be told “I need you back on Monday”.
She should be assessed medically to see if she has a diagnosis which warrants short term disability.
If she does not have such a medical diagnosis, at that point, your ultimative would be appropriate—and necessary.
Great feedback Ken! Sorry I didn’t see this while we were live.
My Condolences to you Jeff. I have been experiencing the same heartbreak. I had a friend take her own life. My Mother burned down her apartment with her in it 4 months ago and 2 weeks later her sister passed away. Writing is therapy for me.
I have Lynch Syndrome twisted very negatively. I can relate Dr. Gena Gorlin.
