Most people write a press release when theyâre finished building something.
The product is ready. The business is launching. The book is finally done.
Itâs time to tell the world how great it is.
But Jeff Bezos figured out something interesting a long time ago.
Weâre doing it backwards.
At Amazon, they started writing the press release before building the product. Which sounds a little ridiculous at first blush.
I mean, how the hell are you supposed to announce something that doesnât even exist yet?
Turns out, thatâs exactly the point.
Because if you canât explain what youâre building, who itâs for, and why anyone should give a shit about it, you probably shouldnât be building it in the first place.
And if you canât come up with a compelling headline, Well, maybe your big idea isnât quite as big as you think (a devilâs advocate may help)
I love this approach. Because I have a tendency to get excited about new ideas. Lots of them. All the time. And sometimes I get so caught up in the excitement of creating something, that I forget to ask whether itâs actually worth creating.
And thatâs why I built this AI prompt.
It asks you five simple questions about the thing you think youâre building. Then it writes the press release announcing itâs successful launch.
You can use this for a new product, a service, a workshop, a book, a career move. Anything where you want to figure out what success looks like.
We both know you donât have time to write the press release any more than I do.
I gotchoo.
Write the ending first. Then go build it. đđ˝ đđ˝
