Compensation is a tightly guarded corporate secret and HR is the gatekeeper. Salary ranges are published and if you dig you can even figure out how levels have overlapping ranges, but sharing for example details of your raise (or lack of one) can get you fired. Obfuscation is furthered by different forms of compensation like your bonus or stock grants/options/vesting. Get into the c-suite and it's even sillier with all kinds of benefits that no one ever knows until you get to the inner circle. yay Finland, but it's cold as AF so I'll cheer remotely.
