I think a good dentist is defined by good dental hygienists. That 9 seconds with dentist A or B is irrelevant. The hygienist has their hands in your mouth for an uncomfortably long time. You have to like that person.

i completely agree. i like my dentist because he has a good sense of humor. i’ve been going to the hygenist for 20 years. i’ve probably had a sum total of 20 minutes time with the dentist over those 2 decades. but i recommend him to others.

As the dentist cousin (which I gave up 26 years ago - the dentist part, not the cousin!) I couldn't agree more...up to a point. As I said in my TEDx Talk - "I loved everything about dentistry but dentistry." But when you need a root canal, crown, implant or surgery, clinical skills do come in handy! Thanks Jeff.
