Caterpillars are not butterflies. Sure, sure... butterflies emerge from caterpillars, but just pretend you didn’t know that part. There’s no way you would ever assume that a butterfly began as a caterpillar any more than you’d think a bird started off its life as a worm. Which, for clarity, it didn’t.
Eloquently stated. This metaphor was also very instrumental in my time with the Modern Elder Academy that Chip Conley created. It was there that I learned the term “liminal” which is where the cocooning stage takes place. It is the space where you are “in-between” the caterpillar and the butterfly. This insight applies to life stage as well as lifecycle. Both of which tuck into your story.
I really enjoyed this, Jeff.
Nice work!
Why thank you Morgan. Your comment is hugely appreciated.

Great comment, Toby. That "in-between" stage is super important and definitely tucks right into the pending sequel to my metaphor.
