I will never do an Ironman. That's not my thing. But, I will stay in my job where leadership above me is lousy, the pay is less than it should be, I spend my own money to make sure my teams have the tools they need to achieve our mission, and I work my ass off to advance our work. Why? Because fuck you, that's why. We, the boots-on-the-ground teams, are changing the world.

Well, f*#*ing aye. This takes me back to my 550 mile from SF to LA. Driven by a cocktail of fear and motivation, I was told by a veteran on Day 2, I would get stronger as this ride went on. That seemed so wrong when I heard it. But, that actually became the reality.

Love the movie, the quote and the post. I have lots of friends who have completed Ironmans. My partner (girlfriend) did hers at Lake Placid in 2010. Not my thing...BUT I love challenging myself in other ways. I am a Krav Maga instructor. The tests are 10-12 hours per day for 3 days to become a certified instuctor. Its pass/fail. 30%-40% fail in their first attempt. The first two hours of day one is called the Gauntlet. 25% of the people drop out during the Gauntlet. It doesn't matter what your fitness level is...it's all mental toughness after the first hour. I sail oceans. Me, my skills and mother nature. I motorcycle across country to support abused children. No distance is too far. Not uncommon to ride for 18-20 hours in any weather to support a child. I have jumped out of hundreds of airplanes. I endure long adventures where I am tested by elements (cold, heat, terrain) to find the edges of my breaking point. So, I love this and yeah...."cause fu*k them". So thank you for this post. As a person who is big on knowing "my why" in life, this landed.
