Interesting that they are both talking about managers, not leaders. I wasn't very taken with the PI list either, but then I figured out that the person they're talking about would make a great manager, according to the person supervising the manager. What executive wouldn't want their managers to have a great work ethic, be honest, and have a good sense of humor for when they get the bad news that their staff isn't getting any wage increases this year? My old company, which still has a few leftovers from the Jurassic era in upper management, used PI as their go-to for leadership development and this pretty much explains why.

Haha. Sorry to hear about your old company.

That said, your insight about manager vs leader is really good. I mean, managers are leaders too, but I understand your point.

I viewed the data as analysis of one’s boss, but it could just as easily be an analysis of a subordinate. And it makes a ton more sense of looked at from that perspective.

Yes I want my subordinates to have a great work ethic. Yes I want them to have a good sense of humor so that they can laugh at the crap they have to do.

Thanks for this Edi!!
